2030 Gorge Road
Trumansburg, NY 14886
This lovely country inn and restaurant that overlooks Cayuga Lake has a total of 22 rooms on the 12 acres that it occupies. It is surrounded by the breath-taking Taughannock Falls State Park, the falls being just a short hike from the inn. Overnight guests enjoy an expanded continental breakfast included in their nightly room rate. There are five buildings on the property that collectively make up the inn.
The original building, a Victorian mansion, was built in 1873 by John and Molly Jones of Philadelphia as their summer home. Many of the lavish furnishings that he brought with him are still in use today, while the chandeliers, lace curtains, antiques, and richly textured wallpaper are all faithful to the era in which the mansion was built. These rooms in the mansion are not accommodated with TV’s. Originally the Jones’ owned 600 acres and their holdings stretched down to the edge of Cayuga Lake; they even had a horse-racing track on their property. In the 1930′s they sold most of their property to New York State and the state park was created. The inn was sold in 1945 and began operating in its new capacity in 1946. The main mansion also houses the 150-seat restaurant.
The newest guesthouse at Taughannock Farms Inn is Edgewood. It sits on a hill that overlooks Cayuga Lake and all of its 10 rooms have beautiful views of the lake as well as microwaves, coffeemakers, refrigerators, TV’s, phones, DVD players and either private balconies or patios. Six of these rooms are outfitted with queen beds, while the other four possess luxurious king beds and jacuzzis from which you can even relax and see the lake!
The Lakeview guesthouse is located near Edgewood and has both a two and one bedroom suite. These suites can be rented separately or opened up and rented as the whole house. In the two bedroom suite, one of the bedrooms has a queen bed and a full attached bathroom and the other bedroom has two twin beds and a full bath outside of the bedroom. It also has a living room, kitchenette, TV, DVD player, and telephone. The one bedroom suite has a queen bed, bathroom, living room, kitchen, TV, DVD player, and telephone.
The Hillside guesthouse is the owner’s residence with a separate wing that has 2 guestrooms in it. These rooms have queen beds and private baths, TV’s, DVD players, coffee makers and telephones.
The Parkview guesthouse was originally built as the icehouse for the mansion and has since undergone quite a transformation. It is now a lovely cottage that has 2 bedrooms, a full bathroom, living room and kitchen.
The 150-seat restaurant overlooks the lake and offers a wide variety of American cuisine. Included in the price of the entree, a guest receives an appetizer, salad or sorbet, the entree and dessert. Just outside there is a beautiful garden that has a lakeview and several tables where guests may enjoy cocktails before or after dinner. The restaurant serves dinner In April, Thursday through Sunday; in May through October every night; in November, Thursday through Sunday, and in December for private holiday parties and New Years Eve.
